A team at the MIT Lincoln Laboratory's Artificial Intelligence Software Architectures and Algorithms Group attempted to better understand disinformation campaigns and also aimed to create a mechanism to detect them. The main objective of the Reconnaissance of Influence Operations(RIO) program was also to ensure the ones spreading this misinformation on Social Media platforms are identified. The team published a paper earlier this year in the proceedings of the National Academy Of Sciences and was honored with an R&D 100 award as well.

Instagram is seemingly working on a new feature called Audio Rooms, inspired by the popular audio-based chat application Clubhouse. Twitter is working on adding emoji reactions to their tweets, similar to the ones available on Facebook, according to a screenshot shared by reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong. The microblogging site could include emoji reactions such as Likes, Cheer, Hmm, Sad, and Haha. The emoji reactions are currently under development and some reactions in the screenshots, especially Cheer and Sad were shown to be using a placeholder Heart emoji.
